Some bio information from Amazon.com

A little more than 10 years ago, Janet Evanovich, a native of New Jersey, decided to try her hand as a writer. Her first idea was to write about a Jersey Girl who's a PI, but no publisher seemed interested. She shifted gears, and by 1992 she had published 12 successful romance novels. After 5 years of writing books such "Back to the Bedroom" and "Naughty Neighbor," however, she decided that the time was right to try again with her PI character, Stephanie Plum.

Since her entry into mystery writing with "One for the Money," Evanovich has gathered an expanding readership with each of her new Plum novels. Her latest, "Four to Score," promises to be one of the biggest books this summer and is already being praised as her finest work. With its blend of sidesplitting humor and serious mystery plotting, "Four to Score" submerges Stephanie Plum in a cast of bizarre characters that draws from the author's authentic feel for her native state. But, as Evanovich explains in this exclusive essay for Amazon.com, Ms. Plum and Ms. Evanovich have a lot--though not everything--in common.
